Eat your fall colors

Stocking up on seasonal food is not only an easy way to transition your kitchen because these types of produce are easy to find. Buying seasonal fruits and vegetables also save you a lot of money, and they make your local farmers extremely happy.

The vibrant earth-toned produce of fall goes beyond pumpkins, sweet potatoes, and squash. You can also have citrus fruits such as tangerine and grapefruit. The switch to colder months urges you to stock up on vitamin C with boosts your immune system. So stock up on these season's citrus fruits as well.

One more thing about eating your fall colors - remember that the more vibrant or vivid a food item's color is, the better it will be for your body and overall well-being. Did you know that you can have something other than cranberries and pomegranate this season? Have you tried rutabaga?

Learn new recipes

Fall is a good time to take care of yourself a little bit more since days are shorter and nights are longer. Aside from hibernating under layers of blankets after you get off of work, you may want to try new recipes.

Switch to healthier choices in sweets

Nothing says fall better than "Halloween." While we are on the topic of learning new recipes, might as well try and switch to healthier choices in sweets. See if you can let go of store-bought candies that are most of the time nothing but processed sugar and empty calories.

Instead of candies and chocolates, plan to give away healthy treats to kids who will go knocking on your door for trick-or-treating. Pumpkin, for instance, goes a long way. It is not only great when carved and used as decor. You can have cookies, candy bars and even pastries out of the good old pumpkin.

Again, a little imagination goes a long way, and this is not only true for the "trick-or-treaters". You can switch to healthier sweets to replace your usual snacks. Once you run out of ready-to-made brownies and cookies, you might want to try pomegranate or mini blueberry tarts.
